Description

This stunning large plate of manganese and quartz vein matrix features two great veins, lined with numerous 3-5 mm Rhodochrosites. They are sharp, lustrous, spiky, and transparent. The colour is a saturated orange-brown. This is an old-timed specimen from the famous Georg Mine near Horhausen, rather well known for great German Bournonites. Rhodos from there are known but much rarer as their brothers from the Wolf Mine. The mines at Willroth (mostly "Georg" and "Louise") was firstly mentioned in 1338. The "Louise Mine" was abandoned in 1925. At March 31. 1965 was the last shift of the Georg Mine. So all specimens from there can be called historic now,- and this piece is superb.
