Description
Locality:
79 Mine, Chilito, Banner District, Gila County, Arizona, United States of America
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.2 × 5.7 × 3.1 cm
Description

An unusual crystallized olive-green smithsonite from this locality! Green smithsonite is rare enough and from this small mine, rarely, a few pockets of smithsonites are produced. About once per decade in the last 30 years a good pocket was hit. The luster is fine and silky and the specimen is mostly undamaged. The smithsonite is translucent and lenticular as usual. This is a fine specimen from a classic US locality in very good shape.
