Description

A fine thumbnail size specimen of pigeonite in olivine "bomb" matrix, from the San Carlos Apache Reservation.   This specimen hosts well defined crystal cleavages of pigeonite in a friable matrix.   Pigeonite is known from a large number of meteoric sources, but terrestrial specimens are scarcely seen.   This material was collected and studied by Dr. Marcus Origlieri on a research trip with tribal permission granted to the University of Arizona
