Description

This is a piece of petrified wood from Chemnitz Hilbersdorf in Saxony. The fossil consists of quartz and some blue fluorite. The fossil wood is a Psaronius infarctus. Can be compared with the still recent tree ferns. The interior of the fern is made of conductive fabric. The exterior made of aerial roots. Some of the roots are filled with tiny agates. A very rare find. The age of the fossil is about 290,000,000 years. Chemnitz is currently the only known place in the world where petrified wood with fluorite is found.
