Description

Excellent specimen of crystallized Melanterite on clay matrix. This specimen comes from a discovery found in winter of 2017 in one of the old galleries that were uncovered when the site was worked on surface. The galleries are very dangerous and unstable and the concentration of dangerous substances is very high.
Melanterite is relatively unstable, however, to increase its protection and avoid its possible dehydration the samples have been coated with clear lacquer.
During my many years of searching for minerals in the area, I have often found specimens of melanterite and calcantite, but they were never crystallized, so these samples are very interesting for this site.

Although these specimens have been in my collection for four years, the stability of these salts depends a lot on the microclimate of each locality, so I strongly advise keeping the specimen at least in a methacrylate urn.

The total weight is with the included urn.
