Description

Very interesting specimen of goethite, pseudomorphic after pyrite, These pieces are found in a limestone sedimentary zone of the Middle Cretaceous or Cenomanian period, these sediments are of marine origin and these minerals were created based on a local enrichment of iron sulphides due to specific bacteria. Being in this very particular environment, the sulfide crystallized in the form of pyrite that later became goethite / limonite, maintaining the previous crystallization, in this case a very particular situation occurred and the mineral crystallized around some ammonite fossils.
