Description

Very old and interesting specimen consisting of a group of crystals of the rare Roedderite on matrix of Cancarixite, Cancarixite is a local variety of Lamproite, Lamproite is a rare ultrapotassic volcanic rock of very deep origin, similar to kimberlite, in fact in the rare Spanish deposits where the lamproite is present polls were carried out to exploit diamonds, since this rock, like kimberlite, has been proven to exist diamonds but it seems that the results were not economically profitable.

The volcanic python of Cancarix belongs to the upper Miocene and has an approximate age of 7 million years, the lava ascended rapidly from the magma and given its high viscosity it solidified rapidly during its ascent by the cone trailing peridot particles and other minerals of the mantle which are found as fragments included in the rock.

This volcanic formation is composed as GLOBAL GEOSITE by the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain.

Roedderite crystals are microscopic, but will surely delight any collector of micromounts. Other minerals are also present.
