Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Panasqueira Mines, Covilhã, Castelo Branco District, Portugal
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
9.6 × 5.6 × 4.3 cm
Weight:
427.00gr
Description

Spectacular group of arsenopyrite crystals with the typical crystallization of this mine, the arsenopyrite crystals are intergrown with rounded sphalerite crystals with a golden metallic surface coating that I think is chalcopyrite, but according to other dealers' arguments it could also be stannite, I never analyzed it.
On the back the piece is sawed since the matrix was immense and disproportionate.
In one corner there are traces of a green apatite and perhaps some calcite.
This is a very interesting piece from this famous Portuguese deposit that has perhaps given the best pieces of arsenopyrite.
