Description

A 2.5 cm brown, striated prism of aeschynite in and on matrix. 

Whether the dominant rare earth mineral is Y or CE remains to be determined. Both forms of the species are found at the Ilmen Mountains locality which is the type locality for aeschynite-(CE) A  1.0 cm remnant of a second crystal would make a good candidate for further analysis.

The specimen is mildly radioactive.
