Description

This specimen consists of crystals of fluorite on dolostone matrix. As you can see by the images, the cyrstals are water-clear and at a glance, appear to be colourless. However, in the right lighting, the crystals display the gentlest hint of lilac colouring.

During the digging of hydro canals in Niagara Falls, the excavated rock was transported to spoils piles on Montrose Road. Over the years, most of the rock has been either removed or covered over with clay. Today a big box hardware store sits on the site.
