Acanthite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Beschert Glück Mine, Zug, Freiberg, Mittelsachsen, Saxony, Germany
Size Range:
Thumbnail (1-3cm)
Size:
1.3 × 1.3 × 0.5 cm
Description

A single acanthite crystal.

The label mentions argentite for the species but it is more safe to label this crystal as acanthite, as argentite converts into acanthite beneath 177oC (so by definition this could be acanthite psm after argentite).

Fine crystal from an old classic locality.

At the back the crystal seems to have had contact with its matrix.
