Description

This is a large impressive specimen of ephesite on manganese rock. Most of the specimen is covered with the hexagonal ephesite crystals and these have an impressive rich colour for this locality. There are some contact marks but it does not distract from the overall appearance.

Ephesite is a rare lithium-rich mica and is only found in a few localities world-wide. The ephesite of the Kalahari Manganese Fields in South Africa is world class for the species.
