Description

Zunyite is a rare mineral from Doornfontein in the Kalahari Manganese Field (KMF) near Postmasburg. It is regarded as some of the finest zunyite in the world mainly due to the typical pyramidal crystals with a red core that are embedded in a matrix.

At close-up inspection with a loupe or microsope you can see the red crystals measuring just over 1mm. In this specimen the zunyite crystals are tighly packed in the matrix.
