Arrastra Basin, Silverton, San Juan County, Colorado, United States of America

Size:
6.5 × 1.5 × 1.5 cm

6.50cm
Description

This is a very sharp amethyst sceptre from a locality known as one of Colorado's best. With good luster, two crystals occupy one stem. These crystals are found in numerous ring faults associated with the Silverton Caldera in an area that was extensively mined for gold, silver and base metals. Because these crystals are found in near surface pockets at high elevations there is very slight chipping which does not detract.
