Description

Outstanding specimen of sparkling bright yellow tabular crystals of  françoisite-(Nd), coat the upper side of this wonderful sample. Françoisite-(Nd) is an extremely rare mineral find in few locality worl wide. Kamoto is the type locality for the specie.

On the specimen: green torbernite/metatorbernite. In the photo of the whole specimen, a small group of creamy white saléeite crystals is visible.

For the information that I have, most of the specimens of françoisite-(Nd), shabaite-(Nd), kamotoite-(Y), astrocyanite-(Ce) and other very rare ones, of the same area, were found, studied and published at the end of the 80s, during the remobilisation of the dumps. The specimens of these species are therefore rather rare and it seems that their finding dates back exclusively to that period (late 80s early 90s) and in very limited quantities.

Excellent sample, rich and very rare!!
