Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Sant'Antioco, South Sardinia Province, Sardinia, Italy
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.5 × 2.5 × 1.5 cm
Description

A multitude of very nice, sharp, sometime twinned, bottle-green crystals of clinoferrosilite, many of which stand straight on the matrix, together there are small crystals of amethyst and all stay on a bed of colorless-milky sanidine crystals.

Clinoferrosilite is a clinopyroxene dimorph of ferrosilite and isostructural with clinoenstatite.  Clinoferrosilite rarely is been found in single euhedral crystals. They are probably the best known crystals for this specie.

Very good and rich sample!
