Description

Bianchiniite IMA No. 2019-022. It is a unique combination of elements and a new structure type. A natural Ti-V arsenite (diarsenite), chemically related to hemloite and tomichite. This extremely rare mineral was found in a single small sample with very few crystals. The geochemical situation in which it was formed is absolutely unique and it is highly unlikely that there will be other findings. This sample is a crystal-portion, one of very few, from the olotype and it is glued on a capillary-fiber. The crystal-portion, sized 0.9 x 0.2 x 0.05 mm and is probably among one of the "greater" fragments obtained. From olotype, then of course, author's material and analyzed.

Bianchiniite is dedicated to Andrea Bianchini and Mario Bianchini. The sample is provided with an autographed ticket from one of the two nominees. Bianchiniite ref. CNMNC Newsletter No.50; Mineralogical Magazine, 83.
