Description

Ferriakasakaite-(Ce) IMA 2018-087 is an extremely rare mineral new member of the Allanite Group - Epidote Supergroup, the Ce-analog of ferriakasakaite(La). Found exclusively in a very limited portion of the outcrop at Monte Maniglia that is located within the so-called Maniglia-type stratigraphic series, belonging to the Acceglio Zone at an altitude of 3000 meters. It occurs, very rarely, in very dark red-brown/black subhedral crystals up to 0.5 mm in size. Very hard to find material for the difficult accessibility of location and the very limited portion of  the ore deposit where this new phase has been found. Very few sample are found!
