The combeite is an extremely rare mineral found only in the type locality, in Congo and reported in a remote location in Eastern Siberia.
This rare specimen comes from the volcanic crater rim of the volcano Ol'doinyo Lengai, Tanzania, from the 1917 Nefelinite casting. This casting is unfortunately, buried and made inaccessible by the 2007/2008 eruption, so it is probably impossible to collect such specimens. This sample was collected on October 1, 2003.
