Description

One yellowish brown single crystal aggregate of the extremely rare Fe hydroxide mineral amakinite from a locality in Norway still not uploaded to Mindat for the species.

Amakinite, Fe(OH)2, is originally pale green to yellow green but rapidly turns brown when exposed to air, due to formation of Fe(OH)3.

Probably analyzed by the former owner of the specimen (the Vandenbroucke Museum, but the analysis is no longer available)

Only four localities known worldwide.
