Description

White crystals of the cadmium mineral otavite from Tsumeb, its type locality, where it remains a rarity. 

Otavite was labeled as RRR in Gebhard II Tsumeb book (extremely rare, single occurrence with less than 10 speciemens known). It was the first new mineral species discovered at Tsumeb (in 1906).

Cadmium minerals are extremely rare in Nature, since only 29 from more than 5800 known species are cadmium minerals !
