Description

Black microcrystals of the extremely rare Ti-V-As-Sb oxide mineral hemloite from the type and only known locality worldwide in Page Williams mine, Hemlo deposit,Canada. in a quartz barian microcline matrix.

Analyzed specimen by SEM/EDS by the former owner of the specimen (the Vandenbroucke Museum), but the analysis is no longer available. Original analysis were performed in the black crystals marked by the white central arrow, but upon close examination of the specimen under the microscope, at least two more areas of the mineral were detected and marked with yellow arrows.

Hemloite is a rare constituent in drill core samples from the Helmo gold deposit having only been recognized in drill core samples from hole W70, 742.6m and746.8m within the Page Williams mine. This specimen is a part of one of these drill-core samples from W70, 742.6 or 746.8m and was partially polished for the analysis.
