Description

Extremely small dark violet, almost black crystal of the extremely rare new scandium mineral bonacinaite (IMA 2018-054) from the type and only known locality worldwide in Varenche mine.

 Named in honor of Enrico Bonacina (b. 1928), dean of micromineral photography in Italy.

The As analogue of kolbeckite (ScPO4). Unique combination of elements: the first natural scandium arsenate (ScAsO4).

Very difficult to photograph due to the tiny size of the crystal.
