Description

Curious specimen of pinolite : a mixture of: dolomite, graphite, magnesite.

Name for a graphite-pigmented, light grey to almost black dolomite with inclusions of white magnesite grains looking like pine kernels (hence the name). Sometimes used as a decorative stone.

Ex Vandenbroucke Museum collection from Waregem, Belgium.
