Description

Phosphophyllite is one of the most rare and beautiful species in the mineral world, and one of the most desirable phosphate species . It is a very sought after mineral.

There are only a few localities in the world in which fine quality crystals of Phosphophyllite occur. The type locality is in Hagendorf, Germany, where the crystals rarely exceeded 6 mm in length.

Over 50 years ago a second, and much more significant discovery was made in Unificada mine, Potosi, Bolivia. This find produced some of the most outstanding, deep blue-green crystals. These days, the Bolivian specimens from the Unificada mine, are considered great "classics", and outstanding specimens are very few.

This specimen is a "classic", exceptionally rare small specimen of the great phosphate Unificada mine in Potosi, featuring one blue-green color single crystal.

Ex Vandenbroucke Museum collection from Waregem, Belgium.
