Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Sierra de Comechingones, San Luis Province, Argentina
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Thumbnail (1-3cm)
Size:
2.8 × 2.5 × 2.2 cm
Description

Outstanding sharp green crystals of the very new mineral dellagiustaite (IMA 2017-101) and approved in 2018, from the type locality in Argentina and only one of the two known localities worldwide.

Dellagiustaite is a vanadium mineral.

It is said that this material contains native vanadium (see Mindat for more details on the discovery, under the title of dellagiustaite, foto SEM, point 8), so it is possible, and I would said, it is probable, that this specimen contains native vanadium, one of the rarest native elements, but this is not confirmed by analysis, at least in this sample. I suggest the buyer to send the sample for analysis, if interested.

Associated minerals are grossite and hibonite.
