Description

Oustanding yellow green crystals of the new and extremely rare mineral alterite (IMA 2018-070) from the type and only known locality worldwide.

Alterite, Zn2Fe3+4(SO4)4(C2O4)2(OH)4· 17H2O, is the 23rd oxalate species, first natural Zn oxalate mineral to date, so it is at the same time an organic and an inorganic mineral.

Associated dark orange mineral (photo 5) is maybe alunogen but this is not confirmed.
