Description

Outstanding partially gemmy apple green (chromium and vanadium rich) tremolite from Merelani.

Following the excellent review on the locality in the Mineralogical Record vol.40, Sept-October 2009, nº5, p.383 we know that tremolite from there has only been offered in the mineral market in two years: 2006 and 2009. It is a rarity and a very sought after mineral from there due to its geminess.See also the July- August 2015 issue of Lapis on Merelani.

For a review on this discovery see the text and photos in the back issue of Mineralogical Record vo. 47, May-June 2016, p.352-353, where it tells that gemmy Cr-rich tremolite is much rarer from Merelani than grossular, alabandite or tanzanite.
