Description

Single electric blue superb gemmy crystal of the extremely rare and extremely sought after mineral andyrobertsite from the type and only known localityTsumeb. It is one of the most famous rarities from Tsumeb !. The electric blue color shown in the photos is completely real and characteristic of the species.

This specimen is part of the famous outstanding type specimen (4 cm specimen with 1,5 cm andyrobertsite crystal) pictured in the cover of The Mineralogical Record (vol.30, nº3, 1999)  jointly with the original article. See the Blog about this superb andyrobertite type specimen pictured in the Mineralogical Record in this E-Rocks website. You can also read the interesting history of this type specimen and the small portion now at auction in the article of the Min. Record.

The crystal have been peeled off the type specimen pictured in the Record, and was in the Pinch collection as showed in the label included. To my knowledge only two "macroscopic" andyrobertsite specimens exist (type specimen at Pinch collection and the one in the Munich Show).

It is probable that this single crystal now at auction (in the same way as the original type specimen in the Record) be a series between andyrobertsite and calcioandyrobertsite, as explained in detail in the mentioned article in the Mineralogical Record, describing the species.
After this article we know that both species are in each crystal. The specimen was collected about 1950 and sold to W.Pinch. It was late purchased by W.Cathcart in 1997 at the Denver Show by $800. (!!).

Ex. -W. Pinch  and Ex-Cathcart specimens, photocopies of the labels will be sent to the buyer. Ex. Dave Bunk specimen also with label.

Andyrobertite and was labeled as RRR! in the Gebhard Tsumeb II book (single specimen).

Don't miss the oppourtunity to get such a exceptional rarity !
