Description

Outstanding specimen of agardite-(Ce) from Tsumeb, consisting of several grass green sprays of hair-like cerium-bearing agardite are scattered over the dolomite and iron rich matrix.

Agardite-(Ce)  forms tiny radiating sprays measuring to 5 mm in length, and are very lustrous lemon yellow to greenish yellow. The matrix is reddish to yellowish brown iron oxides intergrown with sparkling colourless curved 2 mm rhombs of dolomite.

The first find at Tsumeb was made in 1992 on the 30th level with only 20 specimens known at that date. They rank among the finest of the species. It was labeled as RR in Gebhard Tsumed II book (1999), "Very Rare, single occurrence with more than 10 specimens known".
