Description

Even though tsumebite is not a very rare mineral, tsumebite from its type locality Tsumeb is a very rare mineral, since almost all tsumebites (phosphate analog) from Tsumeb are in fact arsentsumebites (arseniate analog), as stated in MINDAT : "chemically verified Tsumeb tsumebite is rare and most unanalyzed specimens so labeled are, most likely, arsentsumebite".

This specimen has been analyzed by EDS and it is confirmed that is tsumebite (see analysis in the "Analysis section").

The species is labeled as RRR in Gebhard Tsumeb book (single occurrence with less than 10 specimens). Following this book (p.140), "7 samples of a total of 50 historical pieces, labelled tsumebite, were indeed tsumebite". In addition, the type specimen was destroyed by Allied bombing in 1943.

Don't miss the opportunity to get this rarity from its type locality !
