Type Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Tsumeb Mine, Otavi Highlands, Namibia
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Micromount (under 1cm)
Size:
0.2 × 0.1 × 0.1 cm
Description

Small but perfectly developped colorless crystals of the extremely rare Tsumeb mineral plumbotsumite. The species has only been found in 5 confirmed localities worldwide, being Tsumeb the type locality.

Plumbotsumite was labeled as RRR in Gebhard's Tsumeb II (1999) book: "Extremely rare, single occurrence with less than 10 specimens known". Since the mine was closed in 1996 discovery of new specimens is very unlikely in the future.

The specimen has an old label from his previous owner Hannes Rose (the Tsumeb species hermannroseite was maybe named in his honour (?)) see scan in labels section of this item.

Don't miss the opportunity to get this extreme rarity and very sought after mineral from Tsumeb.
