2.5 × 1.5 × 0.8 cm
Description

Exceptionally well crystallized specimen of the very rare silver-copper iodide miersite, (Ag,Cu)I, from this already famous Russian deposit. Miersite occurs as deep yellow crystals associated to minoritary red cuprite in a contrasting brown matrix. For an excellent review on the locality see the recent Mineralogical Record Vol.45, nº4, July-August 2014 article, where it tells that the miersite occurrence inside the mine was only a 6 selected spots in area of about 20m long ! (p.409, map). Also from the article we learn that miersite is significantly less abundant than marshite and iodargyrite (p.408). Outstanding under the microscope! Very hard to obtain material in this quality.
