Description

Edgarbaileyite is the first and up to now the only silicate of mercury known in Nature !. It occurs in this specimen as greenish-black microcrystals associated to deep red cinnabar. This sample is exceptional because it contains crystals of the mineral although they're very small (first to fourth photos). See Mineralogical Record: 21: 215-220 (1990) for a description of the mineral.
