Rhomboclase Chalcanthite Römerite & Voltaite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Rio Tinto Mines, Huelva, Andalusia, Spain
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
12.7 × 6.9 × 7.1 cm
Description

A stalactitic growth of divergent elongated rhomboclase crystals, formed by small tabular rhomboclase crystals, with a contour of rhombohedral figure. The most developed face is the third pinacoid {001} combined with bypiramid {111}.

The blue color is due to scattered inclusions of chalcanthite. There are several tiny voltaite crystals, well-formed all over the specimen. However I find as the most remarkable the gemmy roemerite crystals, well-developed and richly covering areas of the rhomboclase.
