Native Mercury With Cinnabar Pyrite Calomel & Metacinnabar

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Las Cuevas Mine, Almadén, Ciudad Real, Castilla La Mancha, Spain
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.3 × 4.1 × 3.6 cm
Description

Bright native mercury drops hidden in vugs are scattered in all sides of the calcite matrix which is heavily included by cinnabar.

However, the most interesting feature of the specimen is the magenta and neon-blue color of the pyrite crystals in one side. There are a couple of tiny metacinnabar crystals plus one calomel group.

An excellent and rich sample of native mercury from the classic locality!
