Description

This sample is from the Lucky Ben Mine, Beatty Township near Matheson Ontario, Canada. It features two pilsenite grains and one small grain of gold in quartz. The largest pilsenite grain is shown in the photo and consists of cleavages of pilsenite covering an area 1.5 x 0.8mm. Also shown is a small grain of gold, although not visible in the photo it has tiny grains of pilsenite attached, a common association there. The chemistry has been confirmed by EDS and it is assumed it is pilsenite and not some other Bi Te mineral because pilsenite is the only Bi Te species reported from there.
