Uraninite crystals and antozonite with weathered hornblende. An interesting suite of representative materials from this locality.

The antozonite is naturally etched dark purple to black fluorite that is found associated with uraninite in the Bancroft Ontario area. It is also known as "Stink-fluss" due to the smell of ozone which is released when it is crushed or broken. According to "Pegmatite Minerals of Ontario and Quebec" Hugh Spence writes that miners knew they had hit a pocket of uraninite by the smell. The fluorite is also thermoluminescent.
