Description
Locality:
Batzbach Slate Pit, Eschenburg, Giessen, Hesse, Germany
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.7 × 3.6 × 0.6 cm
Description

Crazily rare pyritized fossil of a Devonian trilobite, a complete baby-goniatite and a partly preserved snail attached. Even though I've been an avid fossil collector and was born in Hesse I never heard about that material until the 2017 Saint-Marie show. Only a few specimens found. This is one out of two we ever had in our hands. Much rarer than the goniatites and even rarer than the orthoceras specimens from that locality.

Unfortunately only the lower part of the trilobite was preserved.

The locality was re-cultivated 40 years ago (if I remember correctly).
