Description

The Altenberg tin mine was operating since at least 1440, the last mining activities ended in 1991. Due to the geological circumstances crystallized minerals from Altenberg always have been a rarety. I found this historic specimen as part of an older collection. The original label is glued to the items backside.

During 22 years of collecting I’ve rarely seen such a rich molybdenite from Altenberg before (in museums even). The mineral is crystallized on both sides an show an awesome luster.
