Description

The Cavradi gorge in Switzerland is known for a big range of different minerals, most of them in outstanding quality. The reason for the locality’s fame though are its lustrous hematite blades, which are sometimes associated with red rutile! The rutile always grows epitaxial on the hematite, and this specimen shows a lot of this rutile on both sides! To top it off, a rehealed quartz crystal is perched on the edge of the hematite. Usually these crystals are up to 2 or 3 cm big, this one however is 5.5 cm broad -  sometimes size matters!
