Halite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Lubin Mine, Gmina Lubin, Lubin County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6 × 5 × 3.5 cm
Description

Intergrown pretty green halite cubes form an aesthetic 360-degree specimen from recent finds at this locale. The sharp waxy lustre, translucent, stepped-growth are dramatically dominated by the unusual elongated crystal at the specimens side. The green color is probably a modern addition from copper mining runoff, as they do grow naturally in the mine.
