Fluorite & Stilbite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Hirschwald, Gastein, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Museum (18cm plus)
Size:
25 × 13 × 4.5 cm
Description

A few years ago austrian mineral-collectors reopened a cleft that was well known for green fluorite like this. They found some very fine pieces among the one you see here. Meanwhile the market soaked them up so there's no quality material from this area available.

Well developed specimen featuring several intergrown octahedrons up to 2,5 cm on edges. This piece is quite big for the location and shows some microcrystallized stilbite on some of the fluorite's faces. This is a very good contrast to the green crystals. So significant damages.
