Fluorite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Rogerley Mine, Frosterley, Weardale, County Durham, United Kingdom
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
10.5 × 5.5 × 5 cm
Description

The specimen was mined on 9th August 2009 in the East Cross Cut. Please note, that only two pockets (Blue Bell pocket and Jewel Box pocket) ever produced compareable quality. Nearly all specimen from the locality show internal clouds, inclusions and are not as lustrous as this one. Even in the East Cross Cut there was only a low number of specimen showing this quality. The main crystal is up to 16mm on edges, nearly flewless, gemmy and very glossy. Of course it shows this amazing daylight fluorescence, which Rogerley is famous for: dark green under artificial light turns to incredible blue under daylight. Ex Martin Gruell Fluorite Collection.
