Description

From the renowned Bottino mine, a brilliant pyrrhotite rosette is elegantly placed on top of the classic quartz-laden schist. Pyrrhotite makes a few leaves with rounded rims, covered by grainy and shiny pyrite cubes, which most likely has partly pseudomorphed the pyrrhotite itself. A couple of elongated quartz crystals further decorate the thumbnail, with some thin brown siderite crystals at the bottom of the pyrrhotite - just as the local paragenesis dictates.

A little jewel, really. Only minor basal iron oxide staining, never increased since I first purchased it (2005), which indicates that the specimen is rather stable. From my personal collection.
