Description

Choice cabinet featuring dozens of scalenohedral calcite crystals coated with a thin yellow-brown iron oxide layer, with a good lustre for the locality. The uneven color of the coating is a distinct feature for these calcites, making them among the most colorful found in Italy. Noteworthy, a couple of crystals feature a rainbow coatings, quite an addition to the specimen.

A Ligurian classic, rare to find in this size and quality and definitely a showcase specimen. Very few minor peripheral contacts, the largest calcite group is definitely very esthetic. The specific specimen is a few years old and quite large and well preserved for the locality.

From my personal collection.
