Description

Cabinet sized botryodal bicolor smithsonite ranging from yellow/brown to pale green. The specimen is quite sculptural, as it shows a couple of large botryoids and a main crest which is crystallized all around. Medium lustre for this specimen, and upon closer inspection it is possible to observe curved crystals composing the botryoids.

Acquired in 2014, this is a much older specimen from finds dated back to at least the 80s or earlier. Specimens like this used to be part of larger carbonate veins, and then liberated by etching them into HCl - hence the carbonate relics in the inner parts of this specimen.

In my Lavrion suite since I first acquired it. This is quite sizeable for the area.
