Description

Exquisite thumbnail specimen of native copper fully covered with white to semi-transparent dolomite rhombohedrons. A thick bush of native copper grown into a dolomite vug, a small speck of which is still attached at its bottom.
Due to copper inclusions, transparent dolomite appear reddish/orange in color, and this creates a very attractive chromatic effect. Dolomite is very lustrous, and crystals are distant enough to provide enough 'ductile' effect to the core of the specimen, which is mobile but very stable.

I am told that this is a very old specimen and that most of them used to be etched to show copper, which eventually would be just a mass of very delicate wires, very hard to handle afterwards. Personally, I prefer it this way, as technically this is a Tsumeb pseudomorph/perimorph.

Very rich and dense, definitely uncommon. Former collection Lehmann (CH).

Weight includes original plastic plinth and pasted handwritten label.
