Description

Classic geode featuring botryodal aggregates of what appears to be hematite pseudomorphing goethite. Jet black, with good lustre and even some iridescent areas. In good conditions, with minimal bruising or contacts.

Upon testing on a remote corner, the streak on paper was red (hematite). These specimens are classified either as hematite or goethite, but it is likely that the pseudo is the safest guess (it often happens in gossan occurrences) and have become progressively rarer and only spotted in old collections. This one comes from the recently acquired Kasper collection (CH).
