Description

Among the Holy Grails of the mineral world there is the native silver from the legendary locality of Kongsberg, Norway.

This specimen is a thumbnail consisting of a set of spinel-law twinned crystals stacked on top of each other, with the main depeloping axis departing from a small white calcite matrix. Silver crystals retain a part of the original darker patina given by the exposure of the specimen, although keeping the classic silver tarnish in numerous areas of the specimen.

Quite sculptural and a true classic, directly out of my personal collection.
